Hi
I am a freelance writer born in Africa and now living in England.
The Phraser is my blog, made up of pieces I’ve written over the years, and the photographs I’ve taken to go with them. It’s been fun to build, and there’s always the hope that the articles might make a difference.
The Phraser is not sponsored by anyone and if I promote anything it’s based on my own opinion and not for payment. The only parts of the blog I’ve ever received money for are some of the archived pieces which have been published in magazines or newspapers. If I do receive payment for anything in the future I’ll let you know…I am working on it!
Thanks for looking.
Georgie
Ciao, are you living in Naples? I have the utmost respect for non Italians living in Naples after my own visit because of it’s incredibly rich and challenging environment. I am always fascinated by people that do it. I think on some level i am deeply jealous!

Ciao – we live about half an hour from the centre of Naples (if the traffic is on our side!). I love your choice of words ‘incredibly rich and challenging environment’. It’s certainly rich, and the challenge is there at the start but, if you have the time to learn the language and explore, Naples will reward you over and over. It’s the locals who deserve respect as somehow, despite everything life throws at them (and there’s quite a pile) most, in every day encounters, are gracious, compassionate, self-aware and with a wicked sense of humour. They’re also resilient and tough – the difficulty for visitors, especially from cities with more obvious ‘dos and don’ts’, is that we stand out a mile 🙂 I hope you’ll be back.

Hello Georgie, Thank you so much for taking the time to contact me about my piece ‘Tardelli’s Scream’. That was so kind of you. I am really enjoying reading your blog and noting a lot of points of resonance in it: I lived in Rome for two years. My family are from an area in south Italy which is very near to Naples. And I live in London. I enjoy your writing, and your approach to blogging generally.
Thanks again. Looking forward to reading more of your writing. 🙂

Hello – thank you for giving so much of your time to my blog! I am so pleased when anyone is kind enough to do that but I am especially pleased given that you have insider knowledge of a part of the world that I can only observe as an outsider. I am working on my Italian but I am a long way from true conversation. Please let me know if you feel I have missed the truth behind something – I can only give my honest response to places and events. Thank you again for your company and time.

Hi Georgie, I like your idea to keep your posts to 500 words as I do the same as I would like folks to enjoy my stories without needing to read too much. And, I think I am going to like your posts.
In regards to the nomination, could you please let me know where I nominate to. Although I have now been blogging for 2 years I am still a novice, thanx Georgie. Lyn. ps, how fabulous to live in Italy.

We are so lucky to be living in Italy!! I have posted details on my blog about the nominations. Should be easy to find if you go to the home page of The Phraser. Basically you write a post about the award, a few details about yourself and then list other blogs you would like to nominate. Please let me know if you have any problems – hope you enjoy the process. It does take a bit of time but I learned so much about other blogs in doing this – it was fun!
